Throwback Thursday: J-Lo's Nude Lip

Many of us who remember this trend from the early 2000s are scarred from wearing it today, but e.l.f. is here to prove that nude lipstick doesn’t have to be scary! There are a few tricks to nailing it, so follow this guide and embrace the trend!:

1.) Pick a color that is at least 2-3 shades darker than your skin color – this may seem obvious but too many people choose a color that looks nude in the tube but washes them out when worn on the lips. Remember – everyone’s “nude” is different!

2.) Nude doesn’t have to be flat – feel free to choose one with a pink, brown or coral undertone to give your lips a little more definition. For example, if you want a little pink undertone choose our Mineral Lipstick in Nicely Nude, and if you want a subtle coral undertone choose our Studio Matte Lip Color in Coral

3.) Make sure if you wear a nude matte color you finish with a gloss. A matte finish will make you look dead, a shine or gloss finish will make you look glowing! Pick a clear or subtle pink gloss to wear over your favorite nude lipstick. Our Mineral Lip Gloss offers a range of nudes that are perfect depending on your skin tone and undertone.

4.) Pair your nude lips with a rosy cheek – this will ensure that you are not washed out by the lip color. Our Studio Blush comes in a wide array of colors to suit every skin tone!
