What is a face palette?
A face palette offers a range of foundation, contour, bronzer or blush shades in one compact. For example, the e.l.f. Contour Palette contains four shades that allow you to match any skin tone. The e.l.f. Foundation Palette comes with four shades that you can use to cover, contour and highlight. e.l.f. palettes come in options for every skin tone from light to deep. There is also the e.l.f. Powder Blush Palette with four shades that let you mix and match cheek color for a variety of looks.
What are the benefits of a face palette?
A face color palette gives you a variety of shades all in one place so you can mix shades, change up the colors at various times of the year when your skin may be lighter or darker, or simply choose different colors based on your mood and your outfit. It also gives you lots of creative freedom—you can color, cover, contour, bronze and highlight—all out of a single compact!
How do you apply the shades in a face palette?
If you are using a contour palette, choose one of the darker shades and apply it under your cheeks, up along your hairline, along your jawline and under your chin, creating a shape that looks like a backward 3. Blend it in with a sponge or brush. Then choose the lightest shade and use it as a highlighter. Apply it to the high points of your face where light is naturally reflected-- crests of your cheekbones, the bridge and tip of your nose, your forehead, the cupid’s bow of your lips, the top of your chin and the center of your eyelids. Again, blend with your fingertips, a sponge or a brush.
If you are using a foundation palette, apply the shade closest to your skin tone to your entire face. Then choose a darker shade to contour your cheekbones, forehead and jawline.
If you are using a blush palette, select one shade to color your cheeks, then place a lighter shade above your cheeks to highlight your cheekbones and place a deeper shade underneath your cheekbones to add depth and definition.
