High Definition Powder is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 1652.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from I was apprehensive about this powder when I started off. It has a horrible minty smell and is extremely fine, which means it is extremely messy. However, the pros--my go-to setting powder, Coty Airspun, is great, but it makes my foundation oxidize darker and after 2 or more hours, my t-zone (I have combination skin) gets extremely oily, not to mention that it is hard to blend as well. When I tried the elf powder, I was kind of amazed, despite the cons above; it is very easy to remove and my t-zone had stayed matte after ELEVEN HOURS. It does give flashback, no buts about it, but it keeps my foundation at the right shade, sometimes even lighter than normal (I'm very pale and can't find a good foundation light enough for me). So, if you have oily or combination skin and/or very fair skin tone, this is the powder for you.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bring back the old yellow powder!! I have and use the old version, the one that first came out, its a light neutral yellow color very subtle and provided extra coverage for my undereyes, it was light enough for my light skintone and with a lightweight non-drying formula. Now the reformulated version in the new packaging is a bright neon intense yellow and makes no sense using it, might work on a deeper skin but its so neon and tinted like yellow paint.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smooth Operator I've been using this product as a dupe for Makeup For Ever Ultra HD Microfinishing Loose Powder for several years. It's not 100%, but it's very close, especially for the price point.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Setting Powder I really like this product on top of my makeup. It is really light, and doesn't get clumpy on your skin. Because it's so light, however, it is a little messy, but I would still buy this again and again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Please bring back the old formula it was the best Tried the same baking technique using the new formulated powder and its bad, it doesn't blend and leave white cast patches on my face. I know the ingredients are different I have both the old and new packaging. New ingredients: Aluminum starch octenylsuccinate, silica, dimethicone/vinyl dimethiconcrosspolymer, talc, dimethicone, phenoxyethanol, capryl glycol. The old powder's ingredient list was: Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Silica, Sodium Dehydroacetate. Please bring back the old formula! It was my all time favorite powder. If you check the latest reviews on makeup alley people are noticing the difference with this new formula and don't like it as well.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from New formula = awful I used to SWEAR by this as my setting powder. I'm a dance teacher and I have extremely oily skin, this was the only powder that kept me completely (and I mean completely) shine free through both everyday wear and while teaching. Now? Not so much. I was hopeful that only the packaging had changed (packaging is not great, too much comes out at once) but the formula has appeared to change as well. I did my makeup and applied the powder like I always do and my entire t-zone was shine central within a half hour. Absolutely pathetic powder now, it's such a shame. :(

I am a medium brown mixed race lady, and I adore silica powders for their blurring and matifying properties. I do press into the t zone with my beauty blender - but lightly! Then dust around the rest of my face with a brush. Don't be heavy handed, a light dusting is all you need believe me. I use then use a real techniques setting brush to dust the powder under my eyes, around my nose crevices and on my oily eyelids too. This gets rid of any shine, but leaves the skin so smooth. I do my eyebrows, eyeshadow/liner afterwards, and this powder helps them to stay put. I find as the oils come through that they look natural, no tinted powder sitting in pores, no oxidisation and no changing foundation/concealer colour at all.

Say I put on BB cream and I look extra oily. Can using this product help get rid of the oily looking skin?

I have used this product for quite some time. I like the feel of my face and that it seems to absorb oil.  The problem is the glitter in the product. I’m not 15 and I don’t want the glitter. The sheer is so white that I don’t look healthy.

We suggest that you apply this sparingly and blend very well in a circular motion for all shades, and to avoid flashback (white), if you choose the Sheer shade.

What is the recommended way of setting the powder? I heard there's flashback but if you use it right there will not be any, so how would you apply this properly?

Asked by: saipy20
We suggest that you apply sparingly in a circular motion with a powder or kabuki brush and blend well.

Does this powder cause flashback? I've been looking for an affordable powder that doesn't and I'm hoping this is the one.

Asked by: mads060
When applied correctly and blended, this will not cause flashback.

When I use this product it flakes. I've used it over foundation and on bare skin, I applied it with the buff that comes with it, with a kabuki brush and I'm stunned at all the peeling and flakes I have to brush off my face. What's going on?

Asked by: aednyc
If you are using foundation or mousterizer that is oil based that would cause it to ball up.  Or if you use a setting spray before putting it on
