Additional Information

Beauty Shield SPF 50 Skin Shielding Moisturizer is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 85.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Moisturizer. I've used several moisturizers from ELF and while I like them all, this is the best I've tried yet. I will preface this by saying that this isn't suitable for darker skin tones. I'd love to see them expand the shade range since this is a tinted moisturizer and this shade is good for fair to medium skin tones. My skin is very fair and I was worried about a sunscreen scent when I read the reviews. This honestly smells sort of citrusy and fruity and very light. The feeling when it APPLIES is my favorite though, it's almost cushiony as you put it on, and it gives my skin a blurred look. I wore this today with concealer over larger blemishes or discolourations and my skin looked really beautiful and almost glowy without being shimmery. This is a product I'd highly recommend due to the antioxidants, high SPF and beautiful finish. If you're fair, pick this up. Just hoping ELF expands the shades on this instead of nuking it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don’t buy if you are a woman of color If you’re a woman of color this Moisturizer gives you a very noticeable/horrible white cast once it dries your skin will look dry and ashy and white was really excited to use it considering it’s a two in one moisturizer/SPF and considering E.L.F doesn’t make an SPF very disappointed there no such thing as a “universal tint” people come in so many different colors and shades and tones you can’t make one product that works for absolutely everyone it is impossible. I love all of the elf products I use but this moisturizer/SPF is a total and complete fail I hate it

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing I bought this with quite a few other things and I planned to use this in the morning underneath my base. Honestly it smells like sunblock and comes out kinda making me look like I have a whiter base on my face. Left streaky didn’t blend well into my skin just overall not a good buy for me

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth it While I’m used to higher-end products, I use SPF religiously and am always interested to try something new. i LOVE this product. It is light tinted but dissipates pretty quickly when rubbed in. It does have a dewy finish, nothing a little setting powder can’t fix. Greasy is a bad word but it is moisturizing. 50 coverage for this price? Unbeatable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great SPF I just got back from Tobago and it protected my fair skin quite well. I had never used a tinted moisturizer, so was a little hesitant. It blended quite well and was fine on its own, as well as under foundation. Once you get over the fact that it isn't a cream (not that it is advertised as such) and get used to the liquid texture, it really is a nice product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Hit or Miss. Enhances Dry Patches I wouldn't really call this a moisturizer. For me it's just physical sunscreen. It enhances dry patches, scabs and pores. This product is also a hit or miss with how it sits on the skin. Somedays it'll look really nice and some days it's a dry mess.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I messed up. Kinda. I will say that this is my fault to start off with. I went to target today and saw this. I needed a moisturizer really bad and this was where all the other elf skin care items were. I should’ve looked at reviews first but ended up being disappointed. I’m assuming it’s supoosed to be some kind of makeup/skincare or like a bb cream??? I’m not too sure. The texture is runny and dried really fast on my skin. It’s recommended to use after the serum that it goes alone with, so maybe try it that way. My mistake!

Has anyone with pale skin used this? I'm vampire pale in the winter, and not quite vampire pale in the summer, and the tint in the picture looks sooooo dang dark! I really wish this product had no tint because I'd love a moisturizer with SPF 50 :(

Asked by: beepboop
I'm basically glow in the dark I'm so pale. I put paper to shame. I was skeptical too but it blends very well. I did find it slightly on the warmer side but the warmth doesn't show through my foundation at all.

How often will I have to apply this throughout the day to keep my skin protected?

Asked by: RayrayAna
For full protection you should reapply after every 2 hours of sun exposure, or more often if you're sweating/working out. If you're mostly outside to commute to and from work/school you should be fine applying 1 time for the day, especially if you go home in the evening.

Why oh why can this and the spf 50 moisturizer not be FRAGRANCE-FREE? Don't need scent in skin care whatsoever--would have been a good product without, I'm also not sure carrot seed oil is good for skin

Asked by: Carlcarl
Carrot seed oil is indeed good for your skin. It contains carotene and vitamin A and it is very good for healthy skin, hair, gums and teeth, and of course your eyes.

Does this have Avobenzone in it? I'm allergic and I have purchased Elf products before where it doesn't show on the ingredients list but on the packaging it did.

Is the sun screen ingredients in this &the other products in this new line cheical sun screen or physical only sun screen?(titainium dioxide & zinc oxide). Thank you!

Asked by: Ninjajill
It has chemical SPF too, eg, oxybenzone (look at the active ingredients list). The primer seems to have only physical SPF. Hope this helps.

Hi! Is this colored like a foundation? The picture shown looks dark and I'm afraid it won't match my skin. Thanks!

Asked by: PellMellxx
This product has a slight tint, but blends to your skin tone if blended well.
