Rated 5 out of 5 by from AMAZING!! I have oily skin, and I have had a hard time finding great primers. This primer has kept my makeup together time and time again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Did Not Expect To Love This! While I was browsing the ELF website during the no minimum free shipping promotion several week back, I stumbled upon this primer. I have been using ELF products for nearly a decade, but could never get on board with their primers, as none seemed to ever work for me. Instead I spent money on highend silicone-free primers, gravitating primarily to gel or lotion like textures to better suit my oily/combination skin. However, I decided to give this a shot because I love primers that have a tacky feel, as I noticed it prolongs the longevity of my makeup much more than any other type. The first time I used it I thought is was fluke since I paired it with my Smashbox 15 hr foundation, which holds up rather well regardless of which primer I'm using. But I began using it with foundations that I know without doubt barely last on my skin. I've fallen asleep in foundation while using this primer and endured the sweltering NYC September heat, and it stays flawless. I have a lot of primers, but have not touched one since I began using this. It smoothes out my skin, mattifies without overdrying, and does break me out or irritate my skin. Had it not been for the no minimum free shipping promotion, I may not have ever bothered to try this primer. There needs to be more of these promotions to encourage people to try new products they would have otherwise ignored.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Awful texture Awful putty and wax like texture. Too thick to come out through the pump. When applied on the face, it flakes up when friction is involved. Overall, awful product wouldn’t recommend.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from It's going back! The peeling described by others is my experience, it clumps up my foundation and just looks horrible, so I'll be returning it. I was looking for something to lock my foundation into place where my laugh lines are (I/m 50+ and that's the only place I notice my makeup tends to settle and very subtlety but I'm really vain about my skin and wanted it to be perfect with not settling, so I was very hopeful for this product but there's NO way I will ever put a full face of makeup on using this as my primer! I love the under eye hydrating primer and have been using this in my laugh lines for a couple of weeks with a setting powder before putting on my foundation and it's worked pretty well, so I'm going to stick with that technique until I find something better but I will never use this again, it's not good on mature skin even when it's in nearly flawless shape!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally got it work I finally got it to work. My steps : wash face , tone, moisturize and primer. The trick i think is that your face still has to be moist from the moisturize. And that helps the primer spread onto the face. Used it with my Este Lauder and Maybelline Super Stay.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I wanted to love this primer so much but it’s hard to spread. And when my foundation was finally on, throughout the day it looked like “peeling skin”

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best primer I got this in a PR package and I am buying 5 more literally the best primer I’ve used in a while try patting it into the skin verses rubbing it literally LOCKS your foundation into place

Rated 4 out of 5 by from FOR OILY SKIN I bought this product in October, and waited until now to use it because in the winter months it dehydrates my skin. Using it now in warmer weather it spreads much easier plus it keeps my makeup smooth regardless of what foundation I use.

Is this primer good for dry or “mature” skin?  Does it fill in fine lines or accentuate them?

Asked by: Desertheat
Please, don't buy. These reviews must be for some other product. It feels nice on your hand in the store but when you put it on your face.... A totally different story. Wait a bit after applying to your hand then look at it. Dry crepey mess. The texture is like gorilla snot. I fell for this awful product and can't use for anything else. :(

Does this primer cover/fill in pores?

Asked by: Sarah1280
This primer is not specifically formulated to minimize pores, its primary use is to refresh and hydrate your skin and result in your makeup lasting longer.

I am finding this primer difficult to apply. It doesn't soften as I try to apply it to my skin. Is there a way to make sure it softens so that it can spread easier? Thanks!

Asked by: Brightfox
Let me preface this by saying I have not used this primer yet, however I use a $42 glue-like primer by J.One (if E.L.F.'s is similar for $8.00 I am a happy girl!) and the best way to use it is to gently pat the product into your skin. Rubbing does not work it only causes it to ball up. The warmth of your fingers should help. I usually put a pump on the back of my hand, tap some onto my index and pointer fingers and just start patting my face as if you were applying an essence. You don't want to mix up the formula because that is what will grab and hold your foundation. Sorry for the long reply.

I didn't have difficulty applying this primer.  I only apply one pump and I allow it to sit on my face for a few minutes before applying my foundation.  However, it peels off as soon as I apply my foundation.  What am I doing wrong?

Asked by: LStulberg
The directions say to let it sit for only 30 seconds, and the product needs to retain some of its tackiness to work. Letting it sit for too long is probably why your foundation is peeling.
