I really love the original power grip primers, but I’ve really oily skin so I wanted to try the matte primer and I’ve only used a couple times now, but I absolutely love it 

Not as good as the original

⭐️⭐️⭐️ I really wanted to love this matte version, but it just didn’t hit the mark for me. It does help with oil control and gives a soft matte finish, but I found the texture a bit harder to work with compared to the original Power Grip Primer. The original goes on smoother and grips makeup better in my opinion. This one isn’t bad, just not my favorite—I’ll be sticking with the OG!

It Works

Overall, I really liked this product. The texture is great and it does help your make up going more smoothly. My only complaint about this product is that it is extremely thick. Even when I only apply a layer it takes a minute to dry and I just don’t have time to wait for it. I would use it again if I was doing make up for special occasion.

New favorite primer!

The e.l.f. Power Grip Matte Primer is a total game-changer for anyone with oily or combination skin. It grips onto my makeup like no other primer I’ve used and keeps it looking fresh and matte all day long. The texture is a bit tacky at first which I actually love because I know my foundation is going to stay put. It minimizes the appearance of my pores and creates a super smooth canvas for makeup. I’ve noticed a huge improvement in the longevity of my makeup since I started using it and it helps control shine without drying my skin out. It’s just as good as more expensive primers and definitely worth trying if you want that all-day matte look.

If you have trouble with oily skin or areas on you

This is what a 9 hr shift and an hour at the gym looks like with this primer! I love it, really does keep my foundation looking matte. This little tube holds quite a bit and you only need a small amount. It’s also perfect for spot treating those areas of the face that tend to get a little more oily than others.

This matte version of the grip primer is soo good! I really didn’t think it could get better but it did. It dries quicker and even feels stickier. I tried powder on one side and liquid on the other and it seems like the liquid is a bit more poreless.

Great product!

I love this product so much! It feels great on the skin and really makes my makeup last. It’s the perfect base for before makeup. Super easy to use and no noticeable scent.
