Beautifully Bare Luminous Matte Makeup Primer is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 48.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing! I almost never write reviews and am extremely picky about my primers, like a luminous look w/out feeling like I just smeared vaseline on my face. I've tried expensive to cheap primers and everything in-between and have never really loved one like I do with this one. I would not call it matte, but it feels very moisturizing, light, and for me at least I'm amazed how much it blurs my imperfects even though this is not one of it's top advertisements. I bought it on a whim w/ the dewy setting spray and immediately went out and bought 2 spares because I was afraid elf might discontinue it and didn't want to be without! Please keep this product elf! And btw for girls that breakout easy, this did not breakout my highly sensitive and cranky skin! In Love!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible Smell This primer sort of works, but it clogs my pores so much and it honestly smells like a wet dog. The smell is so bad that I rarely use it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent look, beautiful scent Love this primer. The lumi matt confused me, but for me, it mattifyed my face without look dry. Smells like lilac! Soft and wonderful, a scent that is hard to replicate.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Break-out City :( I bought this primer at Target to use daily, sometimes under a foundation and sometimes not, and I've had the worst breakout in five years. I stopped using it and my skin is clearing up. The formula isn't greasy or especially heavy, but apparently it clogged my pores like no other.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from NOT OILY IF YOU SHAKE WELL! There is oil in the product. That is why it is hydrating, but you must shake it. I actually squeeze the tube softly to mush it around inside. ELF should definitely be putting some kind of instruction on the tube. That is why I withheld one star. I even checked the "How to Use" part of this page. They don't mention mixing the product there either. So beware of unmixed product. Mix it and enjoy a hydrating primer that has a kind of silky finish (what is luminous matte anyway?).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Primer I purchased this primer because I was looking for something lightweight yet moisturizing for my very dry skin! I loved the Beautifully Bare Serum Foundation so I figured I'd give this a try and I'm glad I did. You HAVE to shake this product very well or you are definitely going to get a lot of oil before you get any of the actual primer. When I first noticed this (before shaking) I did get nervous because in the warmer months my skin is definitely more oily and tends to not react very well with products that have oil in them even when my skin is dry, particularly primers. However, this product does not give me any issues whatsoever. It is lightweight yet provides a smooth, hydrated base for foundation. I even like wearing it with just concealer or nothing at all. I don't think it makes my makeup stay on any longer than other primers, but it definitely helps to keep my makeup from breaking down and fading throughout the day. The luminous matte is a little confusing. It's definitely not matte but definitely not luminous. Maybe satin finish would be a little more clear? I have not used this when my skin is oily so I do not know if it would perform as well on oily skin, but I hope to find out once the warmer weather is back! The one thing about this product that I don't like is the scent. It kind of smells like the air freshener you often smell in public restrooms. The good part is that the smell does not linger so I will continue to use and I will repurchase.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good The description is really confusing... Luminous matte?? Ya okay, kind of contradicting. Also, you get a little under an ounce which is annoying because this product is $8 and there's tons of better drugstore primers that give you more product for like half the price. I mean, I like the primer, it's smoothing because of the dimethicone in it and it is kind of matte, I'm not sure? Still prefer my Wet n Wild and Rimmel primers.

Can this be used as an eyeshadow primer

Asked by: Junior99
I would say no. Eyeshadow primers and face primers usually do different things to the area they are applied and I don't think eyeshadow would go over the top of it very well. Could just be my opinion of it but I don't think it would work out too well in my experience. Try taking some of your concealer up there instead of a face primer!

I thought dimethicone primers were bad for dry skin like mine, and this has dimethicone in it. Does it actually work for super dry skin?

Asked by: Kat6
Dimethicone is good for dry skin. I have a skin disorder that makes my skin more dry than most anyone and all of my lotions contain dimethicone. It is also in cosmetics so their ingredients go on smoothly.

How is this for oily skin?

Asked by: Wendizzy81
I would recommend this product for drier skin types. I think it could work on combination skin types, but maybe apply with a bit of a lighter hand (as to not apply too much).

Do you use this in place of a regular moisturizer? Or apply after the moisturizer?

Asked by: flasunshinegirl
I would use this after applying your moisturizer. Just allow your moisturizer to soak in for a few minutes before applying.

Which one of the e.l.f. primer's is most like Benefit's Porefessional Primer, which is, in mho, THE BEST!

Asked by: mjd7
Honestly, I would say e.l.f tone adjusting primer in lavender. I both the Benefit and that and they are very similar in consistency. I actually prefer the e.l.f. one because the lavender does seem to help brighten a good deal. My makeup goes on really well and it stays that way all day.

How about the staying power of this foundation? Will it last all day?

Asked by: Lucky502
If you ever used there other Primers that they have, it is the same as them. Their $6.00 primers are just as good as this $10.00 one in my opinion.
