Rated 5 out of 5 by from Game changer I bought this months ago to clean my 20+ brushes, all of which have never been cleaned. Some I must horrifyingly admit have been used daily for years. Finally cleaned them all this morning and wow. Both my expensive and more affordable brushes are insanely clean! No weird smell after (every previous attempt to wash brushes left them with gross smells and ruined brushes), brushes are softer than before, and no leftover residue. I will say, I used the cleaning mat from ELF and I would STRONGLY recommend using it along with the shampoo. Also, hung each brush upside down to dry (using a DIY tape trick) and each one is back to its original shape.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The Worst I was using this product to clean my foundation brush(mind you it’s E.L.F fountain and an E.L.F. Brush) and it barley cleaned it! My brush looked gross! You would be better off using your regular shampoo!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Waste Of Money Used to face cleanser to clean my brushes with which worked better. Good for cleaning powder products from brushes, but doesn't clean liquid foundation, cream eyeshadow, lip products etc... Had to lather and rinse AT LEAST 3 times, after a while I decided it was too much work and went back to my old routine. Do not recommend and will not repurchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best thing I ever purchase I got this like a month or so ago and I love it. I clean then almost every Sunday. My brush are doing great. I can’t recommend it enough. I also recommend getting the cleaning brush glove it makes it so much easier to clean them.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not impressed I tried to like this brush shampoo. Every time I clean my brushes I try it expecting it to work better than the last time. It never does. It takes forever to clean, and makes the bristles stiff and dry. I eventually just threw it out, I didn't even want to give it away it works so poorly. Simple shampoo and conditioner works better. 10x faster at cleaning the brush, the conditioner makes the bristles nice and soft.

What is the difference between the brush cleaner and brush shampoo? are they essentially the same thing or provide different benefits?

Asked by: krocke
The brush cleaner is a spray meant to be used daily for a quick clean. You do not use water with it, all you do is spray the dry brushes and wipe them off on a towel and repeat until the brushes have no more product. The brush shampoo is meant for a deep clean. You wash the brushes with soap and water, and obviously they need time to dry (usually takes a full day of sitting out for me), so you wouldn't do this every day. I have both the cleaner and the shampoo. I don't use makeup everyday but I try to use the spray brush cleaner after every time I use my brushes. I do a full shampoo of my brushes every few weeks or until they start to look like they need a shampoo, but the spray cleaner works well in the meantime when I can't use the shampoo.

If you never clean your makeup brushes for 30 years do you blame the brush shampoo when your brushes fall apart? There is a bad review here of a customer who complained of this. Isn't it more likely that a 30 year old brushes wore out?

Asked by: Deedeeann
yes, that is an extremely rare case. if you take care of your brushes to begin with, this soap should not ruin them. I have only used it on Elf brushes but it cleans them as well as my real techniques sponge very well.

How do you use this to wash and dry brushes effectively?

Asked by: Beauty447
All you do is squeeze a small amount of cleaner on the palm of your hand, then swish the brush until for a second.  The. Rise until water and voila the brush is clean.  Then let it air dry on a paper towel.  I have been using this for a few years and love it.  Effective and cost effective too.
