Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible product. Total game changer First let me say that these are not highlighters. From what I have seen the vast majority of people criticizing the product expect these to be very reflective highlighters. They are not. AND THEY ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE. These are ILLUMINATORS. Like the Hourglass powders. They are meant to add a certain je ne sais quoi to your makeup. They make you look like you are glowing from within. Like you have the best skin on the planet. Like you are wearing a photo filter. They are the best thing that ever happened to my makeup routine. I use them kind of like setting powders. Lightest ones where i want highlight. Darker ones over blush and bronzer. Do yourself a favour and pick some up. Just don't use it like a highlighter or you'll be disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exact Dupe for Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders I’ve been using this palette for a little over two years now. I’ve repurchased it twice, it’s that good. I am a diehard fan of the Hourglass Ambient Powders. I use them as finishing powders, to set concealer, and the strobe holders to highlight. Although I love them, there’s no denying that their prices are pretty steep. I’ve searched high and low for a more affordable option but nothing compared to them. Enter the ELF illuminating powders. These are just as finely milled as the Hourglass ones-they feel exactly the same. More importantly, however, they apply and wear the same way too. I use Hourglass’ Defused light (very light yellow powder) to set my concealer, which is something I never did before these powders because I have very dry under eyes. The powder sets the concealer but gives it a light luminosity that makes it look bright and hydrated. The light yellow in the ELF palette does the same. The other shades I use as highlight. The highlight you get from these powders is not the typical super shiny, blinding, glowing-to-the-gods highlight that most people are used to. It gives the most subtle, I-drank-all-my-water-slept-for-8-hours-I’m-aging-in-reverse glow. There is zero glitter in this. The powders are more of a pearlized satin. It catches the light beautifully. They also look amazing on bare skin because there’s no trace of powder. These are the type of highlighters that give your skin that extra umf, & they’re work and daytime appropriate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Similar to hourglass ambient powders These powders are extremely soft and creamy to the touch. The whitish powder has more shimmer than diffused light by hourglass and is not exactly the same shade, but the rest are much more similar in colour. The “dim lightish” shade is also a little more shimmery but they are still beautiful powders regardless. These survived my de clutter and I have no intention of parting with them. Great for dewy all over skin!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Soft glow This is not a blinding highlight. This is a sort natural glow. You can use as a finishing powder or build it up for a natural glow on your cheekbones . Some peolle say a dupe for hourglass . I say more like essence pure nude highlighters. I dont like blinding highlighters personally . I would rather glow .

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not what I expected Chalky, no shimmer, colors way different from what’s pictured. More of a finishing powder than a highlight. I am a huge elf fan, but this just missed the mark.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for textured skin too This illuminating palette gives you more of a subtle & gorgeous lit from within glow without emphasizing pores & textures.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing price! I got this palette as a gift and I am soooo grateful I did! It is fabulous! I absolutely love the all of the highlighters and would buy this again and again. Best of all these come off with no glittery residue.

I have this palette and I only use the two darker shades on the bottom. Is it possible to buy these shades separately?

Is this palett better for light of dark skin tones? Also which ones are matte and which ones are shimmery

Asked by: PAPAY0
It's more suited for fair, all the way through medium-dark tones, depending on which shade you use. They are all shimmery.

I hear this palette is very subtle. Is that true, or does it have that really big glow to it?

Asked by: CuriousEyes
It depends on the highlighters you're used to. I think they offer an in between glow, they aren't blinding but they definitely have some payoff. Hope this helps.

Is the bottom left, more taupe colour a matte shade? It seems to be the perfect shade for me to contour with and if it's matter, I'd fall in love with it!

Asked by: wadethenerd
All of the shades are shimmery, so unfortunately you cannot contour with the taupe color. However, that shade isn't actually that dark in person, so even if it was matte you may not be able to contour with it. It's also a very peachy shade, too.
